As designers we all hate being told “you copied that from X”, or “that isn’t original, X done that years ago”. Unfortunately, most designs have already been done so; we’re just reinventing it with our spin. Are we taking inspiration from the work? Or, are we copying them? Is inspiration the same as copying?
Why would you want to do this?
If you own a business or host a website, then you know what the impact of missing a few days traffic can have on your bottom line. So, what should you do when your website needs a face-lift, but it’s your primary source of traffic?
Focus on the present, not the end.
Designing is about creativity. It’s about taking what it’s inside our heads and making it a reality. But far too often, we become focused on the end goal instead of the experiences that got us there. This reality is only further confirmed when there is a financial motive.
